Another challenge from my fav blogger group, Trash Can Bloggers!
How is my blogging different from this time last year?
Hmmm having to think hard on this... I think one way blogging has changed is that I write with a lot more confidence now. When my daughter first talked to me about blogging I thought, I can't even get my kids to listen to me! Who out there really would want to hear what I (a slightly crazy techie grandma) had to say? But as always when something scares me I make myself go for it and surprisingly I have had some very wonderful people that have read my lil articles and let me know that they enjoyed or even better learned from my writing about mistakes that I have made in life.
Another thing that has changed is that I have actually learned to like and even enjoy interacting via social media. I have 2 degrees in Computer Science but social media ie Facebook, twitter, etc was a total mystery to me. I heard people talking about I need to tweet about that and I thought TWEET is what baby birds do these people have lost their d.. mind . I still remember the day my adult daughter told me I pimped my MySpace today and I thought girl I don't know what or where your space is but you need to pimp those dirty dishes next. But now I have not only a personal Facebook but a blogger Facebook,plus an (unbelievable) Facebook fan page with over 1500 likes. I have a twitter and I even registered a twub #mawmawsaidso.
The name of my blog came from my mom always saying "because I said so" and my grandchildren always blaming their oops on "but Mawmaw said we could". The biggest change is my mom is no longer with me, she passed away recently but I will always remember her trying to teach me not to make the same mistakes that she did, and I will continue to share stories that try to teach young moms not to learn the hard way but learn from this old lady's mistakes.
